He Needed a Plan That Would Give Him the Results He Wanted!
I was devastated! I knew full well that Gerry needed my help and I was frustrated that simply because I wasn't affordable we wouldn't be able to work together. I promise your situation is not unique. And more importantly - your situation is NOT hopeless.
The big problem is that people who suffer from not knowing how to get rid of excess weight and get in great shape have been fed the 4 myths by the media, unqualified trainers, and even friends.
Here are the 4 biggest myths about weight loss and fitness that will never get you the results you want:
The first one is...
Cardio is paramount in order to lose weight!
The second is...
You should exercise for at least 1-2 hours at a low intensity to burn fat!
The third is...
You should avoid strength training because it will bulk you up - not giving you the tone and definition you want!
The fourth is...
You need to do lots of abdominal crunches to lose abdominal fat and get a trim waistline.

ALL OF THESE ARE ABSOLUTELY FALSE!!!
Wouldn't you agree that it's crazy to think you'll get different results if you keep doing the same thing over and over again?
If I keep touching a hot stove and kept getting burned - I'd be silly to think the next time I touch that hot stove I won't get burnt.
That's why YOU need to try something different…
Dispelling the aforementioned myths, here are the 4 realities you need to put into practice in order to achieve a slimmer and fitter body...
First... Cardio is important BUT it is not the most important. Strength (or resistance) training is the most crucial element to losing weight and keeping it off. When you employ resistance training you stimulate the development of lean muscle.
Since your muscles contain tons of mitochondria - your cells' energy-producing powerhouse - you automatically heighten your metabolic rate as more lean muscle is developed. This, in the long run is what will burn calories upon calories (even while you're at rest) and help you maintain a slim and fit physique.

Second...Your workouts should last no more than 1 hour! Too many people waste their time in the gym. I think it's because they don't know what they're doing or know what they're truly trying to accomplish. When it comes to losing weight and toning, the bottom line is intensity. By increasing the intensity of your workouts you automatically squeeze more workout into less time and burn several times more calories during your session.
For instance, reducing the amount of rest you take between sets, using full-body circuit training programs, increasing the duration of each exercise set, and working out of your comfort zone are just examples of how you can bump up your workout intensity. A few other examples that just came to mind include using a higher step, using slightly heavier weights, challenging your body's balance with a stability ball, and using interval training during your cardio sessions.
All of these techniques will make your workouts more intense which means that you will be working out for less time, yet burning way more calories. What's even better is that you'll actually get into a zone where your body's endorphins (those "feel good" neurochemicals) start to be released, leaving you feeling absolutely fantastic! At the end of the day, all that matters is burning a maximum number of calories in a given workout. Working out for long periods of time at low intensites in your "fat burning" zone is long, tedious, boring, and ineffective. It's time to bump the intensity - you'll be astonished by the results you achieve.

Third...The answer to this has already been discussed in the first point above. But I'd like to reiterate that resistance is the key to a long lasting lean body. And it doesn't necessarily have to involve lifting weights or using machines. You can stimulate your muscles amazingly well using nothing more than your own body weight.

Fourth...You can do abdominal crunches all you want but they are definitely NOT going to help you lose abdominal fat and show off that fit waistline. Performing ab crunches is too localized and focused on too a small a group of muscles to stimulate large caloric expenditure.
Remember, what we're aiming for is to burn calories. How often have you been out of breath doing ab crunches? Probably never, right? Well, that's because the amount of muscle being used is so minimal that not very much oxygen is needed. As a result, you don't burn as many calories.
You see, you can't spot reduce. You can spot strengthen but not spot reduce.
On the flipside, what if you performed lunge walks and got your arms doing work at the same time? Can you see how this would automatically call into action massive amounts of muscle in the legs, arms, and core?! That's the key my friend. Get more muscle involved and you'll burn more calories. As a result, you'll lose weight more easily and you'll notice tremendous reductions in your waistline - I guarantee it! |

No machines - No B.S.!

As you can see there isn't much equipment required. There are absolutely no machines (except for a cardio machine which isn't even mandatory) or heavy weights required. This is something our Fitter U™ clients have thoroughly enjoyed because it has allowed them to enjoy the workouts at home, while they travel, and even in the gym!
In fact, the only pieces of equipment needed for the Fitter U™ workouts are the following:
For the cardio component of the workouts you can use any cardio machine of your choice OR you can simply jog on the spot, skip rope, do jumping jacks, or anything else that will keep your heart rate elevated.
