Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to get started?

Most importantly, you need clearance from your physician before you begin with ANY exercise program if you fail to meet the basic requirements in the PAR-Q. The PAR-Q is a basic questionnaire that will take less than a minute to answer and will let you know if you should proceed.

If you are cleared to exercise, all you will need for the Fitter U™ program is an MP3 player (or CD player), a stability ball, a couple pairs of dumbbells, a step, and a cardio machine.  For Treadmill Trainer™ all you will need is a pair of running shoes - the workouts can be done on a treadmill or outdoors.

If you happen to have these items in your home, then this program can be completed there as well as in the gym.

What happens after I purchase - How do I download the workouts?

Fitter U™

Upon purchasing the Fitter U™ program you will receive an email which contains several links. These links are your gateway to downloading the 19 MP3 workouts and accompanying PDF files (e-book) that come with Fitter U™.

Click on each link to download the files onto your computer’s hard drive. Each MP3 file is compressed in zip format (in order to speed download time), so ensure that once they are on your computer you “unzip” or “decompress” the files.

Once the files are on your computer you can then upload them to the appropriate software to get them onto your MP3 player.

How large (memory space) are the workout files?

All of our MP3/iPod workouts range in size from 80 to 130 MB per workout.

Music Equipment?

It is recommended that you use either a portable MP3 or CD player and not a stereo system with speakers. Fitter U™ and Treadmill Trainer™ were specially developed to be used with headphones and using headphones will greatly enhance your experience.

CD PLAYERS - Make sure that your CD player can play 'home made' CD-Rs. Almost all newer CD players are CD-R compatible. If you have ever burned your own music CD and it worked in your CD player, this will do. Also, it is HIGHLY recommended that your CD player has Anti-Skip technology of at least 60 seconds. There is nothing more frustrating than a CD player skipping while exercising.

iPod & MP3 PLAYERS - There are 100's of brands of MP3 players on the market, including Apple’s iPod.  Each workout uses between 80 and 130 MB (depending on the program), so at the least, your MP3 player should have 1 GB capacity. If you can’t seem to fit the entire Fitter U™ or Treadmill Trainer™ program on your MP3 player,  then simply add and remove each workout as needed. You can store the rest on your computer’s hard drive.

What happens if I have an iPod Shuffle or Nano?  Will the workouts still fit?

Of course!  Most iPod Shuffles can hold up to 1 GB and Nanos can hold up to 8 GB.  Since our workouts range in size from 80 to 130 MB you can easily upload up to 9 or 10 workouts (on a Shuffle) and all of our workouts onto an iPod Nano.

Regarding iPod Shuffle: Because the workouts don't always have to be on your shuffle you can upload and then remove the workouts as you choose.

Is there a difference between MP3 and iPod workouts?

No.  They both refer to the same thing which is basically an audio file that can be played on both mp3 players and iPods.  iPod is simply a trademarked name of Apple Inc.  And iPod is a type of mp3 player which can play mp3 files such as our workouts.

What kind of Internet Connection do I need?

It is recommended that you have a high speed connection to the internet in order to facilitate and speed download times. The MP3 files are compressed in a zip file which makes the download more efficient but the files are very large and can take hours to download over a dial up connection.

The mp3personaltrainer.com server has the capacity to handle thousands of visitors at a time but that is only one component of the process. The other component is the service provider in which you use to connect to the internet. If your server has limited bandwidth it could corrupt your download.

How long does is take for the workouts to download onto my computer?

It all depends on your internet connection.  If you are using a high speed connection each workout should take no longer than 10-12 minutes to download.  If you are using a dial up connection then the download process can take much longer.

We've zipped all the workouts into zip files in order to speed the download process as best possible.

What kind of computer hardware do I need?

If you have a high speed connection and a CD burner, you can opt to purchase a MP3 download and create your own CD using any one of several types of free MP3 software (such as iTunes or Windows Media). If you have the necessary connection and hardware then you can choose to burn your own Fitter U™ or Treadmill Trainer™ CD in the case of not having an MP3 player.

Don’t worry it is very easy to do.

However, if you have an MP3 player, then there’s no need to burn any CDs. Simply upload the MP3 files right onto your MP3 player from its respective software program (eg. Apple’s iPod uses iTunes to upload songs).

What makes the Fitter U™ workouts so effective?

Each one of the Fitter U™ workouts can be used by anybody at any fitness level.  Users have reported using the workouts at home, in the gym, and even while travelling.

Each workout during the Fitter U™ program is designed around full-body exercises in a circuit training sequence, meaning that you go from one exercise to the next without much rest. The benefit – you train both the cardiovascular and muscular systems at the same time. The result – you burn more calories and feel terrific after each and every workout!

Cardio interval training sets are also incorporated between the exercise circuits.

Each workout lasts anywhere from 45 to 70 minutes (from warm-up to cool down).

The beauty of the 3-phase Fitter U™ program is that each workout builds upon the previous one, forcing your body to constantly adapt to new demands. You never plateau and the results will show.
